Humankind was very successful in the last couple of centuries. Human beings have been going through a lot of transitions and changes. The documentaries of Mankind – The story of all of us show these efforts of our species and set them once more into motion. It is amazing to watch how we’ve achieved progress within all the challenges we had to face at the same time.

There is not much evidence of the beauty of our race in mass media. Consumerism, entertainment and sex are the driving forces of our behaviour. This has been part of being human in all our history. Still there are glimpses of a force that shines through all the machinery of reports, social media and capital – a force of nature – evolution.

If we investigate more closely we may find out that we are unable to not deal with this force. It might be the power that keeps the cosmos running for billion of years. It’s a consciousness that enables us to perceive and experience in a dual world. Never before this power was more evident than nowadays. All kinds of crisis that are challenging us are waking us up to start developing and evolving once more. Life doesn’t stop where we are at. Life demands. There should be even more growth – but not in the way we thought we should practice it.

Scientists gave this new age a name. They speak of the Anthropocene: the age of mankind. The main difference between former epochs is that we can’t pretend that human beings are not effecting the biosphere and all life on planet earth.

There are thousands of networks everywhere on the planet that are engaging in changing the behaviour of human species. There are shops to exchange clothes for no money, permaculture initiatives, transitions town movements, ecovillages and communities. Pioneers and Visionaries believe that there is a need for a new consciousness to tackle all the problems of moderne civilisation and to shift our awareness from an old paradigm into a new worldview.

At some point there will be a jump in evolution …
… and it’s up to us to envision the future.

In order to live sustainably on planet earth we need new ways of thinking and in the end a new world view. This world view develops by us telling each other the same stories over and over again. The community of the Findhorn Foundation in the North of Scotland has published the New Story Hub to explore this new story. In 2014 they invited for the New Story Summit. In 2016 the New Story Film was born.

During the meeting of the New Story Summit is was visibile that facilitation expertise is not enough to bring forth a new story. The pioneers and visionaries attending the week long marathon wanted to explore this new ground of being right from the scratch.

We tell new stories.

The Hopi-Natives have their own stories about a transition of human kind. They do see us already in a phase of change. It’s most interesting that in most of their prophecies it’s about letting go of. Something OLD wants to go before the NEW enters our consciousness and the world. The Hopi tell us:

There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift
that there are those who will be afraid.

They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel
they are torn apart and
will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination.

The elders say we must let go of the shore,
push off into the middle of the river,
keep our eyes open,
and our heads above water.

And I say,
see who is in there with you
and celebrate.

At this time in history,
we are to take nothing personally,
least of all ourselves.

For the moment that we do,
our spiritual growth
and journey comes to a halt.

The time for the lone wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle
from you attitude and your vocabulary.

All that we do now
must be done in a sacred manner
and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Speaker of the Wolf, Fox and Coyote Clan
Elder of the Hopi Nation)
